Description: Development of a distributed shared memory system, called the NCP 2 parallel computer. The NCP 2 project maintained continuity with the NCPI computer and introduced advancements, primarily new hardware support for implementing the distributed shared memory model, in addition to utilizing the new T9000 and Intel i860P chips with up to one order of magnitude greater processing power than the NCP I. It also continued the advancement in R&D of numerical algorithms for large-scale applications in the areas of Computing, Engineering, Physics, and strategic areas. Finally, R&D was conducted to solve basic problems of parallel computing related to the construction of distributed Operating Systems, programming languages, and parallel programming environments.
